My brother, Henry, had just mentioned that our Christmas presents would be forthcoming and continued......
"Oh Brock, Son of Ellen Douglas Townsend, it is now Advent, and Christmas does not begin until December 25. Nevertheless, if you will risk her shade arising from the dead and haunting you, as she would say, you are at liberty to open the box and enjoy, as many days before December 25 as you can muster the courage."
And I answered......
"Thanks, but there's not a snowball's chance in Hell of me doing that! Besides Mother, I am just as bad. Wonder who I got that from......:)"
To which he replied......
"I understand completely. Georgetown began putting its Christmas decorations up before Thanksgiving, an abomination hitherto left to those poor benighted countries without Thanksgiving, and who are therefore less culpable."
